Dele Farotimi, a prominent Nigerian human rights lawyer and activist, was granted bail set at N50 million by the Ekiti State High Court. The bail requires a surety with landed property, following his arraignment over allegations of defamation against Chief Afe Babalola.

The charges stem from claims made in Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, which alleged judicial corruption involving Babalola. Farotimi pleaded not guilty to all 16 charges brought against him.
