Certain media outlets thus baselessly suggested that this signaled a withdrawal of Netflix’s investment in Nigeria, sparking widespread concern about Nollywood’s global momentum without the platform’s support.

Netflix Nigeria responded on social media, dismissing the rumors and affirming their commitment to the country.

The service has been focusing on local content, working with Nollywood creators and offering more Nigerian films and TV series.

Despite some frustrations from both audiences and creators about the quality of certain Nollywood films on the platform, Netflix claims it remains committed to growing its presence in Nigeria, with plans to continue supporting local creators and partnerships.
