Akua Donkor, Ghana’s Presidential Hopeful, Dies Ahead of Election

One of the two female presidential candidates for Ghana’s upcoming December 7th elections has died. Akua Donkor, founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), passed away on Monday, October 28, in Accra at the age of 72.

She was one of two women running, alongside Nana Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

According to local media, her health declined rapidly following abdominal pain that began on Saturday, October 26. She was hospitalized in Accra, where she passed away shortly after.
