Malian Military Eliminates Terrorist Leader, Aliza Ould Yehia, Architect of Ber Attack

Terrorist Aliza Ould Yehia, who said the Africans of Mali will not have peace, mastermind of Ber attack, neutralized and sent to his maker:

In a major operation carried out on October 7, 2024, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) succeeded in neutralizing Aliza Ould Yehia, the emir of the Al-Quds Company of the Sahara Emirate, during the attack on Ber. This terrorist leader, feared for his cruelty, was eliminated with his gang, thus ending a long manhunt.

This victory comes after the two terrorist attacks successfully repelled on October 6 against Ber and Timbuktu. The FAMa inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups, destroying their logistics and seizing a large arsenal.

The Ber attack took place between August 11 and 12, 2023, during a period of heightened conflict between the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) alongside the involvement of the Wagner Group against the Tuareg rebel group Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA).

This battle marked a significant escalation following the withdrawal of UN peacekeepers (MINUSMA) from Ber, which left a security vacuum that rebel groups sought to exploit. The attack represented a breakdown in the Algiers Accords, which had maintained a fragile peace in northern Mali since 2015. Ber became a focal point for hostilities, with jihadist groups like Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) also involved.
