Former Senate representative for the Cross River South Senatorial District, Cross River State, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa has led a peaceful protest to the residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Umar Ganduje.
Accompanied by Cross River APC Chairman, Adolphus Ogar, Senator Ita-Giwa expressed her anger and demanded to see the national chairman.
The reason behind the protest was the dropped nomination of former Cross River State Commissioner for Local Government, Dr. Stella Odey-Ekpo, for the position of National Women Leader. Instead, Dr. Mary Alile Idele from Edo State was nominated. Ita-Giwa sought an explanation for the decision from the national chairman.
Speaking to the press, Chairman Ogar said, “The position of the National Women Leader, previously held by Dr. Betta Edu, has always been rotated between Cross River and Akwa Ibom. We don’t know why it was taken away from us. We urge the national chairman and the NWC to do the right thing.”
Senator Ita-Giwa is well known for her strong advocacy for the rights of the oppressed and marginalized. She has always been vocal in seeking justice and ensuring that historical injustices are addressed.
