According to the French ambassador to Niger, the Commander of Iran’s Qods Force, General Qaani, was on board the LN422 flight from Tripoli to Niger last night.

This news comes at a time of heightened tension in the West African region following the coup which led to the ousting of President Bouzim of Niger and the subsequent calls for the evacuation of French and US military bases in Niger.

This revelation adds a significant dimension to the current situation, raising concerns about the potential escalation and impact on the region and the world.

It is important to note that tensions have been escalating since the coup in Niger, which has drawn attention from international actors.

According to French intelligence, Qaani met with the Nigerien leadership, with a likelihood of offering the IRGC’s logistical support in the event that the West-backed Nigeria-led ECOWAS invades Niger.

While ECOWAS has called on the current Niger leadership to reinstall the ousted president, otherwise face military intervention, countries like Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Algeria, and Chad have declared their readiness to defend Niger from external aggression.

As developments continue to unfold, stakeholders and regional powers are closely monitoring these evolving circumstances. The presence of General Qaani on the flight has further added complexity to an already delicate situation.

It is essential to keep a close eye on this issue as it carries potential consequences for the West African region and beyond. The detailed investigation and analysis of these events will provide a clearer understanding of the factors at play and their implications in the coming days.
