The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Council, has expressed its condolences to the family of late Princess Florence Omolola Adewoyin, who sadly passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the age of 57.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Mr. Tunde Olalere, the news of Princess Adewoyin’s death came as a shock to the union, which acknowledges her significant contributions as a union activist and her strong advocacy for gender equality and the protection of women and girls.
During her tenure as Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos Chapter, from 2010 to 2013, Mr. Tunde Olalere said that the late Princess Adewoyin was dedicated to advancing the interests of women in the profession.
Furthermore, the Secretary added, “Princess Adewoyin was highly regarded in the field of journalism for her remarkable creativity and versatility as Chief Sub-Editor at Thisday Newspapers.
“The NUJ, Lagos Council, extends its heartfelt prayers to the immediate family of late Princess Adewoyin, hoping that God’s infinite mercy will provide them with strength during this difficult time. The union also prays for the fortitude of her colleagues and the Christian community to bear the irreparable loss.”
The statement concludes with a poignant acknowledgement of the union’s anticipation of meeting Princess Adewoyin again in the afterlife, where they will be reunited forever.
