The Anambra State Government has expressed interest in the ongoing controversy surrounding the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Miss Mmesoma Ejike. This is announced in an official statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu.
The statement reported that the young student approached the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, with her UTME result, alleging that JAMB did not recognize her as the candidate with the highest score. The Commissioner then reached out to JAMB to verify her claims, only to be told that Mmesoma had forged her result.
Following JAMB’s response, the examination board involved the Directorate of State Services (DSS) to conduct an investigation into the matter. However, the Anambra State Government expressed its displeasure with JAMB’s decision to make the issue public before the investigation took place, leading to widespread discussions across various media platforms.
Sir Paul Nwosu further stated the state government’s intention to conduct an independent investigation into the matter, emphasizing their impartial role.
To ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation, the Anambra State Government announced the formation of a Committee of Inquiry. Prof. Nkemdili Nnonyelu was appointed as the Chairman of the Committee, with notable members including Prof. Mercy Okonkwo, Prof. Maduabuchi Dukor, and Rev. Sr. Prof. Mary-Felicia Opara.
The statwmcommittee’s findings will be made available to the public, shedding light on the truth and resolving the ongoing dispute.
