In a significant global recognition, Prof. Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN, an energy law expert from Nigeria, has been selected as the new Chair of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights. The expert body aims to promote ethical business practices on a global scale.
Prof. Olawuyi, who recently achieved the distinction of becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (Queen’s Counsel) for “substantial contribution to legal scholarship and jurisprudence,” is set to contribute his expertise in advancing responsible business conduct worldwide.
Announcing the appointment, Prof. Damilola Olawuyi wrote on his official Twitter handle, “I am honored to assume the role of Chair of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights (@WGBizHRs). I look forward to working with #bizhumanrights stakeholders across the world in advancing this important task.”
