Mr Udoh

At the suicide scene, there was one Mr Erin, who described himself as a Human Rights activist and resident within the vicinity. Mr Erin identified the suicide victim simply as Mr Udoh.

“This man (pointing at the dangling lifeless body of Mr Udoh) beats his wife always. She has already been advised to separate him. This morning again he started to beat her. The beating was so heavy that he burst different parts of her head. So, the wife fell down and went into coma,” Mr Erin said.

Mr Udoh’s wife

Speaking further, Mr Erin added that, “the community rushed her to the hospital and on returning to the house, they met the man already hung himself to death. He thought his wife had died due to his brutalization on her. He must have greatly feared the consequences of killing his wife. So, then community went to the police station to make a report, for police to come and carry the corpse, for further actions.”

SPO Kunle Adeoye (the DCO of the Idimu Police Station) reportedly led his team to check on the wife who is undergoing treatment at an undisclosed hospital, while the team also reportedly evacuated the corpse of Mr Udoh to the station, in company of representatives of the Street Landlords Association.
