
On the first of March, 2023, the leadership of the Public Interest Litigation of West Africa [PILIWA] led by its Nigeria’s focal person, Barr. Dr. Chima Williams paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association A.K.A the Lion Bar.

Received by the Chairman of the Lion Bar, Barr. Nosa Edo-Osagie, Barr. Dr. Chima Williams expressed the interest of the PILIWA leadership in establishing a partnership with the Lion Bar so as to jointly tackle the numerous alarming cases of environmental violations and many other matters injurious to public interests.

The PILIWA is a non governmental organization that represent a rallying point for public spirited lawyers across West Africa who are genuinely worried about the barrage of environmental, social and economic violations undermining the prosperity of West Africa and as such united to address the violations using the instrumentalities of the law.

Barr. Dr. Chima Williams presented documents introducing the PILIWA, its aims, objectives and minimum working proposals to the Lion Bar chairman who was not only visibly delighted to receive the leadership of the PILIWA but also made assurances of his Executive Council’s readiness to work with the public interest organization.
